এমন দিনে তারে বলা যায়
এমন ঘনঘোর বরিষায়
এমন দিনে মন খোলা যায়
এমন মেঘস্বরে বাদল-ঝরঝরে
তপনহীন ঘন তমসায়
এমন দিনে তারে বলা যায়

সে কথা শুনিবে না কেহ আর
নিভৃত নির্জন চারিধার
দুজনে মুখোমুখি গভীর দুঃখে দুঃখী
আকাশে জল ঝরে অনিবার
জগতে কেহ যেন নাহি আর

সমাজ সংসার মিছে সব
মিছে এ'জীবনের কলরব
কেবল আঁখি দিয়ে আঁখির সুধা পিয়ে
হৃদয় দিয়ে হৃদি অনুভব
আঁধারে মিশে গেছে আর সব

তাহাতে এ'জগতে ক্ষতি কার
নামাতে পারি যদি মনোভার
শ্রাবণ বরিষণে একদা গৃহকোণে
দু'কথা বলি যদি কাছে তার
তাহাতে আসে যাবে কিবা কার

ব্যাকুল বেগে আজি বহে বায়
বিজুলি থেকে থেকে চমকায়
যে কথা এ'জীবনে রহিয়া গেল মনে
সে কথা আজি যেন বলা যায়
এমন ঘনঘোর বরিষায়
এমন দিনে তারে বলা যায়

On Such a Day I May Speak to You

On such a day I may speak to you
On such a terribly gloomy day
On such a day I can open my heart to you
On such a day of clouds, lightning, and incessant rain
In dense darkness without the sun
On such a day, I may speak to you

No one else will hear those words
The surroundings have been deserted and secluded
The two of us face to face, deeply drowned in sorrow
The sky pours with relentless rain
As if there is no one else in the world.

Society and relationships are all in vain
The clamor of this life is in vain
Merely sip the nectar of the eye with the eye
Experience the heart with the heart
All else has faded into darkness

To whom is it a loss in the world
If I can unburden my mind
In the corner of my home, on a rainy Shravan day
If I utter a few words to you
Whose loss or gain would it be?

Wind blows with great force today
Lightning flashes occasionally
The words that have remained in my mind all my life
As if I may speak them today
On such a terribly gloomy day
On such a day, I may speak to you
