My wife and I have a routine every morning
I let the dogs out while she gets those old coffee beans perking

And then we shower, brush teeth and spend an hour adorning
Ourselves for our long day at the jobs that we are both working

She gives the mirror a quick check
Gives my cheek a quick peck
And says, "I'll see ya when the work day is done"

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys
That's not my favorite one

Sometimes I'll call her at work to complain
That her spending Is out of control if I get a late notice

I'll ask "honey is there any way to explain
Why these bankers took time from their busy appointments and wrote us?"

She'll ask "Is that why you called me?
Like a child to scald me?
Not to tell me to have a good day?

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys
That not the best one, I would say

She hangs up the phone with me, goes back to running her company
She's in the big chair now, she's in the C Suite

She's a former teen mom who achieved an advanced degree
Worked very hard and she kept moving forward, no retreat

It took a very long time
It was a very steep climb
She can quite justifiably boast

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys
That's not the one I love the most

Everyone manifests multiple faces they wear for the people they meet
Keeping them all straight can be a quite a difficult task
Finding a person who loves all your faces is quite a remarkable feat
But there's really just one of those faces that isn't a mask

We return home from work at around the same hour
Give a quick kiss hello and begin preparations for dinner

She's still in that mindset of corporate power
And she has this desire to manage those around her within her

My dishwasher loading technique
Receives her sternest critique
And she reloads the washer again

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys
That one is not in my top 10

After dinner is eaten and the cookware concealed
Almost every week night, around the TV have we loitered

She takes off her makeup and her sweet face revealed
She puts on pajamas with a hoot owl on the pant leg embroidered

She stops acting hard
She lowers her guard
And in her bosom my head comes to rest

Out of all of the multiple Kimberlys
That's the one I love the best
