Songtexte What Are Your Pronouns? - TurtleFrogMan
I was sitting in an airport lounge, sipping on some overpriced wine
Before my plane was due to depart
She was very pretty indeed and sat down on a stool near mine
And it didn't take long for the small talk to start
She asked about my flight and the logistics and in general the purpose of my trip
And I asked her the same in an effort to be nice
And then she asked me something no one ever had
It made my brain do a double back flip
A question so disturbing, I was frozen like a block of ice
She asked me, "What are your pronouns?"
I asked her "what she meant by that", I really didn't how to react
When the age old lines of demarcation blur
She said, "I didn't want to just presume that you were a man, in fact
She said proudly, "my pronouns are she and her"
She asked me, "What are your pronouns?"
She said, there are many possibilities, you might look like a man and might be one
You might look like a man but prefer to be referred to as a "she"
Or you might be a woman under there
You shouldn't see a man and think that you see one
Maybe you're a woman who prefers to be referred to as a "he"
She asked me, "What are your pronouns?"
I could sense that was getting upset, because I wouldn't play the game she plays
She said "let me help you out, I'm gonna go out on a limb."
You're just another angry white male, longing for the good old days
I'm willing to bet that your pronouns are "he and him"
She asked me, "What are your pronouns?"
I gathered my belongings and turned, apologized for making her mad
And left to find the gate for the plane ride back home
And I thought about the lessons I'd learned, in a history class I once had
About the decadent days that preceded the fall of Rome
