ตั้งใจร่ำเรียนทุกค่ำเช้า
ถึงหนักถึงเบาไม่ร้องบอก
อยู่ไปวัน ๆ เหมือนมีปลอก
ลากคอให้เดินตามทาง

ชี้ให้ฉันเดินไปทางไหน
จะเร่งรีบไปตามคุณบอก

แตกหักยับเยินป่นปี้

Study and Work

I left home for the city of heaven,
For the city of angels, Bangkok.
I traveled alone from the countryside,
To come and study and learn.

I met all kinds of people,
Both flies and foxes.
I met both good people and hypocrites,
And many who wanted to exploit me.

I studied hard every night and day,
No matter how hard or easy.
I lived each day as if I were in a cocoon,
Dragging myself along the path.

You showed me which way to go,

My heart was numb but broken,

You told me to write and I wrote,
You told me to study and I studied.
We competed against each other over and over again,
Like choosing the best breed of dog.

I did it for the future I dreamed of,
Pushing myself to the limit.
I was like a rat in a trap,
Hoping to earn money to support my family.

Until I finally graduated,
And received the degree I had worked so hard for.
I can't tell you how happy I was,
Smiling and walking along, feeling good.

I started pounding the pavement looking for a job,
But the happiness I had felt began to fade.
It started to disappear, more and more,
No job, no job, no job.

They hired 15 people,
But the boss's and the bigwigs' kids took up a dozen of those spots.
The rest of us, thousands and thousands, were left crying.
The system had no solution.

In many places, people worked,
A bowl of rice in the morning and a bowl in the evening, for years.

I worked so hard, I almost died,
But in the end, I'm unemployed.
