I found myself headed west to Cheyenne, hadn't been there in years
Not since that night I walked out, leaving her in tears
I don't know why I decided after all these years to look her up
Maybe I realized she's the only one I ever loved
I remember, that night she held onto me like she'd never let go
She told me that she loved me more than I'd ever know
She asked me if there was another and I honestly said "No"

I was young then, didn't know myself, didn't know how much I cared
She was perfect but I felt worthless and scared
I left for no good reason, always felt bad, but never called or wrote
She didn't know how to tell me I'd be a dad
