Lyrics Friday - Dr. Knock

Let's open on Palm Sunday the Triumphal entry of the only
Son of God riding through jerusalem on a donkey
Crowd shouting Hosanna palm branches in the wind
But He wouldn't be received like this again
See He spoke words that offended jewish leaders
Unaware that He was the Messiah sent to come redeem us
They rejected His words His miracles and teachings
Accusing but oblivious to they're own blaspheming
Now let's get back to the message set forth in my reading
Jesus wept and slept in bethany for the evening
Got up the next morning and cursed a fig tree for having no figs
Then went back into the temple to give it a cleanse
It was righteous He kicked out the gamblers thieves
Preached to the crowd then debated pharisees
Declared parables and woes to the sadducees
The same people judas let take Jesus under they're siege before friday
Friday now we move right into thursday morning of the Passover meal
He told john and peter to setup the place to eat and chill
So they did exactly what He told em
The heart of a servant that's exactly what He showed em
As He blessed the wine and broke and blessed the bread
He passed it around the table and this what He said,
"This is symbolic of the new covenant with God and thee
So as often as u eat it do it in rememberance of Me"
Then so humble and meek He got up from His seat
And prepared a bowl full of water so He could wash they're feet
The attitude we should have He pushed pride to the curb
While teaching the road greatness is a drive to serve
What better way to tell em words couldn't compare
Showing His devotion to God even in despair
Late night deep in prayer they gathered at the garden
Jesus, peter, james and john went a little farther
He told em keep watch while He prayed His soul deeply grieved
Pleading, "Abba Father take this cup away from Me
But only if it's possible Your Glory still come
Yet in all not Mine let Your Will be done on friday
Friday early morning friday they finally caught Him
Betrayed with a kiss now approaches the hour
For the Son of man to be glorified in the Father
All night in them courts while they question and doubt Him
Illegally incriminated brutally beat
Radically ridiculed but silent as sheep
Put on display as He carried His cross through the street
Torture in every step leading to calvary's peak
The moment was bleak nails through His wrists and His feet
Being stretched on a cross gasping to breathe
And as we stood back and just glanced at the scene
Our penalty dissolved it was grace we received on friday
