J-R3MI - The Women That Raised Me Lyrics

Lyrics The Women That Raised Me - J-R3MI

This is a shoutout to the women that I love
The women that raised me when I was growin' up
To all of my tías and my grandma Ma
And of course to my mother, the one above all
Let me start with the one that gave birth to them all
My grandma is a miracle-worker, a gift from God
I don't know how she raised all of them to become
Such lovin' individuals that share what they got
With each other, so tight-knit
I write this knowin' that I might just
Strike a nerve that's so righteous
'Cause she raised five children amongst the angst of the frightenin'
Truth of what happened to a man
That got too attached to a bottle
So in addition to raisin' kids, she took care of her husband
Got him through rehab
And she often babysat her babies' babies
What a wonderful lady
This is a shoutout to the women that I love
The women that raised me when I was growin' up
To all of my tías and my grandma Ma
And of course to my mother, the one above all
Esperanza, Nadine is the one who answers the call of duty
A paramedic then cop on the scenes of crimes
She's so wise with time under her belt
She gives advice to her sisters and felt
Every punch and emotion that was dealt in a house of seven
Man, I'm sure it was hell
But she made it through and brought my momma out too
She does so much for the family, and I thank her for doin'
Mom, I just wanna let you know that I love you
And you are always appreciated
By me, by Marilyn, by Mellanie
And all of your sisters
This is a shoutout to the women that I love
The women that raised me when I was growin' up
To all of my tías and my grandma Ma
And of course to my mother, the one above all
Tía Jenny, I remember I would go to her house
In the summer time for day camp at Piotrowski Park
We all had our own plates and then we'd take them out
That was a good time that I'm missing now
And Tía Lorraine would take us to the museum
Of Science and Industry and the Children's to be on brain games that were fun
And now I save them in my memory
I'll cherish them 'til they're fadin'
