Inventions Everywhere

You know that Edison made the electric light
The brothers name Wright put planes in flight
But things like sneakers and crayons and glue
All must have had inventors too

The bean bag chair, the music box
Interlocking plastic blocks
The bouncy house, the playground swing
Somebody had to invent that thing
The bike that zips from there to here
It didn't just suddenly appeared
It took brains to design each spoke and spring
Somebody had to invent that thing

Somebody had to figure out how to make a doorknob
A bendy straw and a screw lid for a jar
And the tiny little doorway a dog can enter
All of those things had to have an inventor
A Bell or a Tesla, da Vinci or Hedy Lamarr (Hedy Lamarr), yes!

The hula-hoop, the foot long frank
The flusher on the toilet tank
The big rubber mask for snorkelling
Somebody had to invent that thing
Umbrellas and scissors and yo-yo strings
Somebody had to invent all of those things
