Lyrics

Fourteen years young, with dreams in his eyes
A football star rising, reaching for the skies
That cold, rainy night, in an old Kingswood's roar
He laughed with his friends, not knowing what's in store
Ninety miles an hour, through the roundabout's spin
Hit the curb, and the world came crashing within
Six times it rolled, he was thrown to the ground
Crushed and broken, where no hope was found
Lying in the rain, he couldn't feel his legs
A boy left alone, with his life on the edge
His friends ran away, left him there to die
But a spark in his heart refused to say goodbye
Oh, the sirens cried, but his friends turned away
Abandoned and bleeding where he lay
In the dark, in the cold, he saw a light so divine
Calling him softly, tempting him to resign
But a voice deep inside screamed, "You're not done, hold tight!"
He's chasing the light, chasing the light
In the ambulance, fading, he saw that white glow
Paramedics fought hard to not let him go
He woke to machines, his body a wreck
Shattered pelvis, broken back, pain around his neck
Doctors worked fast, stopped the bleeding inside
A miracle boy, somehow still alive
No more fields of green, no cheers from the crowd
His dreams lay in pieces, but his heart stayed unbowed
Oh, the sirens cried, but his friends turned away
Abandoned and bleeding where he lay
In the dark, in the cold, he saw a light so divine
Calling him softly, tempting him to resign
But a voice deep inside screamed, "You're not done, hold tight!"
He's chasing the light, chasing the light
Every step was a fight, every day brought new pain
Learning to walk through the tears and the rain
No more football dreams, no glory to chase
But a fire in his soul lit up his face
Scars tell his story, of a boy who survived
Grateful each day that he's still alive
Now he walks out those doors, a new path to tread
A life full of struggle, but hope in his head
With courage as his guide, he's rewriting his fight
Forever chasing the light, chasing the light
