You know just a few minutes ago we were talking about the fact that you like to put a good mix of the good, the bad and the ugly on your albums
I know that you included some songs that you had written much further in the past
And you kinda brought 'em forward for this album and
So I'm wondering you've had a lot of good going on your life lately but not a lot of bad or ugly
Yeah
Going on this album I mean so is that or maybe some of these past songs came in or were you able to somehow dig and find the bad and the ugly
'Cause your life seems to be going pretty fantastically well right now
You know there was a little bit of both
There were few songs like We're Gonna Ride Again as a song that I wrote a while but
And it fit more of not halfway to heaven the justice I am where I'm thinking but still it didn't feel right
It's about Phil and Carrie brought that ran in front of a house force but it's also a Bucker Brotherman
And didn't know at the beginning but he ended up no one from way back he knew like my Pop and he was family across the board, we lived together
You know he and I and Jess, our guitar player
My drummer, Ben and Steve we all lived together in this
We called it the compound
Yeah
So he was family and he was so proud of what we had when it was what it was you know what I mean and
I felt like this record, this chapter, we're at the point now and I feel like the guys in the band we're all turn over new leaves and we're all inspired
So I mean there's a different time and a different place for us
I feel like everybody's got both freedom on the ground and as an organization, I feel like right now this is a time where he's really looking down where I had built at
And that song's about me you know what I mean
That's awesome
And call that bad and ugly if you want but it's a song about somebody just passed away
Yeah
But to me, I know Carrie well up to now that he is up to heaven and he is probably gettin' in trouble, all the time
Well it says in his soul
Preparing them for your arrival
Yeah
I mean 'cause this dude, there was a story back in the day that my Pop that told me
They left one time, they left to a clubhouse
It was probably 10 or 15 bikes and they got back to where they were going
Everybody was hanging out laughing and cotton up and all of a sudden somebody
Where's Carrie?
And looked up said "I couldn't find him"
And I called the clubhouse said just left
And they said, "We thought he left with y'all"
So everybody loads up and all of us back down on the road
And I got to a point on the road where they saw the last part somebody remembered him being beside 'em
And that's one thing he loved riding motorcycles but he was not very good at it
He just wouldn't pay attention and he had run off this hour something going off the road and a big cut two patch
And I said they all cut their motorcycles of the road and you could hear him laughing
I said he's all beat up and chewed the open road race up but I can hear his laugh right now like it was yesterday
He had the most obnoxious, funniest just hilarious laugh just him laughing alone was enough to crack everybody up around him
Yeah
And he was that guy
And he's the guy that everybody loves to be around and like I said he was proud of what we were when it was what it was
That's awesome
And singing what it is now
And it's a song I wrote with Mike Dekle, one of very very important person to me
One of my favourite people and also written with Jess, our late guitar player and Carrie actually had a heart attack and Jess and I were with him when he passed
Oh my gosh
Like that's how we lived together
Yeah
And we were living in Mike Dekle's house like it's old house he lived across that Lapaun famous
So it was like a family member passed on the way
You know what I mean that was a close it always has been a close knit, good to bad and ugly grew from me a lot of friction I mean there's to it act like we could sit here for days
Right
And I could tell you stories but we lost Carrie, we lost a family member
Yeah
Across the board so it's not so much the bad and ugly
It's not completely all feel good song because it does heart
Right
You know looking back no one I wish he was sitting in this room right now telling stories
Look him by and him not be in that chair you know what I mean
Yeah
Him not be in front of a house or playing shows
Yeah
That's not great but no one worries at no one will see him again makes that song that bad and ugly I think

Wir werden wieder fahren (Kommentar)

Weißt du, vor ein paar Minuten haben wir darüber gesprochen, dass du gerne eine gute Mischung aus Gutem, Schlechtem und Hässlichem auf deinen Alben hast.
Ich weiß, dass du einige Songs aufgenommen hast, die du viel früher geschrieben hast.
Und du hast sie für dieses Album sozusagen hervorgeholt.
Also frage ich mich, du hattest in letzter Zeit viel Gutes in deinem Leben, aber nicht viel Schlechtes oder Hässliches.
Ja.
Auf diesem Album, ich meine, ist das so, oder vielleicht kamen einige dieser früheren Songs herein, oder konntest du irgendwie graben und das Schlechte und das Hässliche finden?
Denn dein Leben scheint im Moment ziemlich fantastisch zu laufen.
Weißt du, es war ein bisschen von beidem.
Es gab ein paar Songs wie "We're Gonna Ride Again", den ich vor einer Weile geschrieben habe.
Und er passte eher zu, nicht "Halfway to Heaven", dem Gerechtigkeit widerfährt, ich bin, wo ich denke, aber trotzdem fühlte es sich nicht richtig an.
Es geht um Phil und Carrie, die vor einem Haus durchgebrannt sind, aber es ist auch ein Bucker-Bruder.
Und ich wusste es am Anfang nicht, aber er kannte jemanden von früher, er kannte meinen Pop und er war Familie durch und durch, wir haben zusammengelebt.
Weißt du, er und ich und Jess, unser Gitarrist.
Mein Schlagzeuger Ben und Steve, wir haben alle zusammen in diesem...
Wir nannten es das Gelände.
Ja.
Also, er war Familie und er war so stolz auf das, was wir hatten, als es das war, was es war, weißt du, was ich meine?
Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass diese Platte, dieses Kapitel, wir jetzt an dem Punkt sind, und ich habe das Gefühl, dass die Jungs in der Band, wir alle neue Blätter umdrehen und wir alle inspiriert sind.
Ich meine, es ist eine andere Zeit und ein anderer Ort für uns.
Ich habe das Gefühl, dass jeder seine Freiheit hat, und als Organisation habe ich das Gefühl, dass dies eine Zeit ist, in der er wirklich herabschaut, wo ich aufgebaut habe.
Und in diesem Song geht es um mich, weißt du, was ich meine.
Das ist fantastisch.
Und nenn das schlecht und hässlich, wenn du willst, aber es ist ein Song über jemanden, der gerade verstorben ist.
Ja.
Aber für mich, ich weiß, dass Carrie jetzt im Himmel ist und wahrscheinlich die ganze Zeit Ärger macht.
Nun, es heißt in seiner Seele.
Sie bereiten sich auf deine Ankunft vor.
Ja.
Ich meine, weil dieser Kerl, es gab eine Geschichte damals, die mein Pop mir erzählt hat.
Sie fuhren einmal weg, sie fuhren zu einem Clubhaus.
Es waren wahrscheinlich 10 oder 15 Motorräder, und sie kamen zurück, wo sie hingefahren waren.
Alle hingen rum, lachten und unterhielten sich, und plötzlich fragte jemand:
Wo ist Carrie?
Und schaute auf und sagte: "Ich konnte ihn nicht finden."
Und ich rief im Clubhaus an und sagte, er sei gerade gegangen.
Und sie sagten: "Wir dachten, er wäre mit euch gegangen."
Also packen alle zusammen und wir fahren alle wieder die Straße runter.
Und ich kam an einen Punkt auf der Straße, wo sie den letzten Teil sahen, an dem sich jemand erinnerte, dass er neben ihm war.
Und das ist eine Sache, er liebte es, Motorrad zu fahren, aber er war nicht sehr gut darin.
Er passte einfach nicht auf, und er war dieses Stundending von der Straße abgekommen und in ein großes Dornengestrüpp gefahren.
Und ich sagte, sie stellten alle ihre Motorräder am Straßenrand ab, und man konnte ihn lachen hören.
Ich sagte, er ist ganz zerschrammt und hat sich die offene Straße zerkaut, aber ich kann sein Lachen jetzt hören, als wäre es gestern gewesen.
Er hatte das unausstehlichste, lustigste, einfach urkomische Lachen, nur sein Lachen allein war genug, um alle um ihn herum zum Lachen zu bringen.
Ja.
Und er war dieser Typ.
Und er ist der Typ, mit dem jeder gerne zusammen ist, und wie gesagt, er war stolz auf das, was wir waren, als es das war, was es war.
Das ist fantastisch.
Und ich singe, was es jetzt ist.
Und es ist ein Song, den ich mit Mike Dekle geschrieben habe, einer sehr, sehr wichtigen Person für mich.
Einer meiner Lieblingsmenschen, und auch mit Jess geschrieben, unserem verstorbenen Gitarristen, und Carrie hatte tatsächlich einen Herzinfarkt, und Jess und ich waren bei ihm, als er starb.
Ach, du meine Güte.
So haben wir zusammengelebt.
Ja.
Und wir lebten in Mike Dekles Haus, wie sein altes Haus, er lebte gegenüber diesem Lapaun, berühmt.
Es war also, als wäre ein Familienmitglied auf diese Weise gestorben.
Weißt du, was ich meine, das war eine enge, gute, schlechte und hässliche Gruppe von mir, eine Menge Reibung, ich meine, da ist es so, als ob wir tagelang hier sitzen könnten.
Richtig.
Und ich könnte dir Geschichten erzählen, aber wir haben Carrie verloren, wir haben ein Familienmitglied verloren.
Ja.
Durch und durch, also ist es nicht so sehr das Schlechte und Hässliche.
Es ist nicht ganz alles ein Wohlfühlsong, weil es wehtut.
Richtig.
Weißt du, wenn ich zurückblicke, wünschte ich, er säße jetzt in diesem Raum und würde Geschichten erzählen.
Schau ihn dir an, und er ist nicht in diesem Stuhl, weißt du, was ich meine.
Ja.
Dass er nicht vor einem Haus ist oder Shows spielt.
Ja.
Das ist nicht toll, aber zu wissen, dass er sich keine Sorgen macht, dass wir ihn wiedersehen werden, macht diesen Song nicht schlecht und hässlich, denke ich.
