Schützen wir

Wir hab'n den Tierschutzverein, wir hab'n den Kinderschutz,
Wir hab'n den Rentnerschutzverein, und der ist gar nichts nutz.
Wir haben außerdem den Mutterfreudenschutzverband
Und einen Schutzverband fürs teure Vaterland.
Wir hab'n den Denkmalschutz, wir haben auch den Jugendschutz,
Und einen Schutzverband, der schützen soll vor Schund und Schmutz.
Doch es gibt etwas, was man überhaupt nicht schützt.
Ich möchte hoffen, daß man mich da unterstützt:

Schützen wir die Polizei
Vor Verdruß und Schererei!
Wenn ein Räuber überrascht wird und das Weglaufen vergißt,
Ja, wer schützt den Polizist? Ja, wer schützt den Polizist?
Oder sag'n wir: Ein Student
Geht spaziern vorm Parlament.
Ja, was denkt sich der dabei?
Schützen wir die Polizei!

Denn für Studenten haben wir ja sowieso nie Platz.
Die soll'n doch erst was lernen, vorher sind sie für die Katz'.
Und wenn sie protestieren, wer beschützt die Polizei?
Was ist schon ein Revolver und ein Knüppel oder zwei?
Statt der Funkstreifwagen Panzer!
Wer drin sitzt, kann zwar nichts seh'n,
Doch es kann ihm nichts gescheh'n.
Außerdem an jeder Ecke zwei Kanonen für die Leut'.
Sie werd'n seh'n, wie sich Ihr Schutzmann drüber freut.
Drauf und dran! Geh'n wir's an!
Schützet jeden Mann!

Schützen wir die Polizei!
Sie wär längst schon an der Reih'.
Manchmal läßt sie sich bestechen, und ich weiß ja, das ist trist,
Doch wer schützt den Polizist? Ja, wer schützt den Polizist?
Und wer schützt ihn vor dem Schmerz,
Wenn er pfeift und keiner hört's?
Oh, wir schützen jedes Tier, schützen Steuerhinterzieh'r,
Schützen Volksdemokratien, schützen Schützenkompanien.
Jeden Tag sind wir beim Schützen frisch dabei,
Schützet auch die Polizei!

Let's Protect

We have the Animal Welfare Society, we have the Child Protection Society,
We have the Pensioners Protection Society, and it's no good at all.
We also have the Protection Association for Mothers' Joy
And a Protection Association for our dear Fatherland.
We have the Monument Protection, we also have the Youth Protection,
And a Protection Association that is supposed to protect against trash and filth.
But there is something that is not protected at all.
I hope that you will support me in this:

From annoyance and hassle!
When a robber is surprised and forgets to run away,

Or let's say: A student
Is walking in front of the parliament.
What is he thinking?
Let's protect the police!

Anyway, we never have room for students.
They should learn something first, before they're good for anything.
And if they protest, who will protect the police?
What is a revolver and a truncheon or two?
Instead of patrol cars, tanks!
The people inside may not be able to see anything,
But nothing can happen to them.
Besides, two cannons on every corner for the people.
You will see how happy your policeman will be about it.
Go for it! Let's do it!

It's been their turn for a long time.
Sometimes they take bribes, and I know that's sad,
But who protects the policeman? Who protects the policeman?
