Graeme Connors - These Uncertain Times paroles de chanson

paroles de chanson These Uncertain Times - Graeme Connors

There's a closing down sale at the hardware store
They just can't make ends meet anymore
Old Bill McAllister is close to tears
That place has been in his family for ninety odd years
So there's a few more people for the unemployment queue
Ah, welcome to these uncertain times
I hear the Atkinson boy quit the farm last night
The way things are it wasn't worth the fight
He'd been working those fields for three weeks straight
Took his four wheel drive through the closed front gate
So now there's one man left trying to do the work of three
Ah, the casualties of these uncertain times
They say nothing happens in this town
The sun comes up, the sun goes down
Like promises made at election time
When they get your vote they change their mind
They called a public meeting down the shire hall
Something a local member wants to tell us all
Seems the government has come up with a rescue plan
He wants to show us their proposal for a great big dam
And where we are now will be fifty feet below
Ah, wouldn't you know these uncertain times
So nothing happens in this town
The sun comes up, the sun goes down
But if they try to take my land away
We'll see who has the final say
I'll get old Bill McAllister and the Atkinson boy
And everybody else here who's unemployed
We'll show these politicians a thing or two
They'll be sending in a chopper from the TV news
And we'll be on the front page of every paper in this land
Ah, you gotta make a stand in these uncertain times
You gotta make a stand in these uncertain times
You gotta make a stand in these uncertain times
You gotta make a stand in these uncertain times
