Wieku, co siejąc śmierć - sam umiera
Rano po mleko drepczą do sklepu
I sadzą dęby na skwerach

Prawem kaduka, w drodze wyjątku
Niepowtarzalni, jak starodruki
Żyją co dzień, dzień w dzień - od początku
I troszczą się o prawnuki

Przegapił Hitler, pogardził Stalin
Nie dały rady - zawał, prostata.
Czytają, czego nie przeczytali
I wciąż ciekawi są świata

Nie pysznią się - bliźniacy stulecia
Że ich nie dorzucono do stosu
Ich życie ma się powtórzyć w dzieciach
- Jesteśmy częścią kosmosu!

Częścią kosmosu - popiół we włosach
Popiół tych wszystkich, co nie przeżyli
Nieusuwalna pamięć, jak osad
Spalonej kolekcji motyli

Czasem się z losem godzi czas
Mleko i motyl, dąb w rozkwicie
Ci, co przeżyli - żyją wśród nas
Tak obrażonych na życie

Among us live those who survived
Though they were not supposed to survive
And they still enjoy every moment
That their fate gives them

They live in defiance of the century's verdicts
