Yfir fannhvíta jörð leggur frið

Til eyrna af indælum söng.
Tvíræð bros mætast, og börnin kætast
En biðin er börnunum löng.

Loksins kveikt er á kertum í bæ,
þá er kátt um öll mannanna ból.
Og frá afskekktum bæ út við sæ
ómar kveðjan um gleðileg jól.
