Das Lied vom Ofen

Da ist ein Weib, das heizt ihm ganz schön ein,
Sein Ofen brennt, doch sie läßt sich nicht wärmen,
So bleibt ihm nur, ihr heiß von seiner Glut
Tagein, tagaus stets vorzuschwärmen.

Da steht er nun und sieht bei ihr ist Sommer,
Und ihr ist warm, sie braucht den Ofen nicht,
Was soll er tun, sein Feuer brennt und lodert
Und kein Gedanke, das es je erlischt.
Da steht er nun mit seiner Glut
Und in ihm zischt und dampft die Wut.

Da nimmt der Mann Papier und Feder,
Schreibt ein Gedicht und schildert seine Nöte,
Er denkt, die Kunst vermag doch manchmal viel,
Er denkt an Frau'n und Meister Goethe.
Da steht er nun und stammelt seine,
Sie hört ihm zu und findet es ganz nett,
Was soll er tun, sein Feuer brennt und lodert,
Und auch die Kunst bringt ihn nicht in ihr Bett.
Da steht er nun mit seiner Glut
Und in ihm zischt und dampft die Wut.

So will er nun den Ofen regulier'n,
Das Feuer klein, so kann man es halten,
Er denkt verschmitzt, mal muß sie ja auch frier'n,
Und meine Glut kann nicht erkalten.
Gedacht, getan, er will sein Feuer zähmen,
Er zähmt und zähmt, die Flamme wird nicht klein,
Denn die Gefühle woll'n sich nicht bequemen
Nur Untergeb'ne des Verstand's zu sein.

The Stove Story
