Mein Mädchen geht oft reiten,
Ja, sie hat sehr viel Kraft,
Mal sollt' ich sie begleiten,
Mensch, hat die mich geschafft!
Am Sonntag früh um Fünfe,
Da sagt sie - nun ist es aus,
Nun mach' dich auf die Strümpfe,
Wir fahr'n zum Reiten raus! -
Wir stiegen in den Trabbi,
Auch der schlief noch so schön,
So früh hat der den Lacky
Noch niemals nicht geseh'n.
So früh, ich fand das dämlich,
Doch sagt ich nichts, und schwieg,
Der Trabbi grinste hämisch,
Als ich den Gaul bestieg.
Das heißt, besteigen wollte,
Mann, war der Sattel glatt,
Und als ich runter rollte,
Hatt' ich das Reiten satt.
Sie hatte kein Erbarmen,
Ich mußte wieder rauf,
Zu Haus in ihren Armen,
Nahm ich das gern in Kauf.
Sie nahm sich eine Stute
Und sagte zu mir mild -
Reit du auf diesem Wallach,
Denn der ist nicht so wild!
Das stimmte mich verdrießlich,
Doch wollt' ich sie nicht frag'n,
Ich sagte zu ihr schließlich -
Du kannst dich grad' beklag'n! -
Ich saß nun wieder oben,
Und dabei fiel mir ein,
Ich merkte so von droben,
Wird manches Problem ganz schön klein.
Doch das war sehr verwegen,
Wie es sich bald erwies,
Ich sage euch, Kollegen,
Dem Lacky war, dem war ganz mies.
Wie kann man etwas leiten,
Wovon man nichts versteht,
Mit Pferden wie mit Leuten,
Das absolut und überhaupt nicht geht.
Die Stute trabte vor mir,
Der Wallach lief ihr nach,
Das wußt' noch von früher,
Als ihn der Hafer stach.
Im Schritt war's ganz gemütlich,
Das machte direkt Spaß,
Doch als er galoppierte,
Lag ich schon mal im Gras.
Ich fand mich schwer beleidigt,
Mein Mädchen rief - Geduld -
Sie hat den Gaul verteidigt
Und mir gab sie dann noch die Schuld.
Ich dankte für das Reiten
Und ging zurück zum Hof,
Mich mit dem Gaul zu streiten,
Das war mich ja dann doch zu doof.
Ja, ehrlich, ich muß passen,
Auch aus 'nem ander'n Grund,
Schon wegen meines Hintern,
Der ist noch heute wund.
Und die Moral von der Geschicht':
Ein Dilettant auf hohem Roß
Ist immer ein Rhinozeros.

Horseman's Story

My girl often goes riding,

Early Sunday around five,
She says - enough is enough,

We're going for a ride! -
We got into the Trabant,
It was still sleeping so nicely,
It had never seen
The tarmac at that early hour.
So early, I thought it was stupid,
But I kept quiet,
The Trabant grinned maliciously,
When I mounted the stallion.
That is to say, wanted to mount,
Man, that saddle was slippery,
And when I rolled down,
That was the end of the riding.
She had no mercy,
I had to go up again,
Back in her arms at home,
I would gladly accept that.
She took a mare
And said to me mildly -
Ride this gelding,
Because it's not so wild!
That made me rather annoyed,
But I didn't want to ask her,
I finally said to her -
You can't complain! -
I was sitting on top again,
And then it occurred to me,
I noticed from up there,
That many problems seem really small.
But that was very reckless,

The tarmac was, it was really bad.
How can you lead something,
That you don't understand,
With horses as with people,
That's absolutely and completely impossible.
The mare trotted in front of me,
The gelding ran after it,
I still know that from before,
When the oats stung him.
At a slow pace it was quite cozy,
That was fun right away,
But when he galloped,
I was already lying in the grass.
I was deeply offended,
My girl shouted - be patient -
She defended the horse
And then she even blamed me.
I thanked her for the ride
And walked back to the yard,
To argue with the horse,
That was just too stupid for me.
Yes, honestly, I have to pass,
For another reason too,
Because of my backside,
It's still sore today.
And the moral of the story:
A dilettante on a high horse
Is always a rhinoceros.
