Clip My Wings

I'm trying to learn to let it go
Cause I would rather take it easy
Yeah, I've been reading poetry
And I've been teaching myself to be free
Cause on the surface, what hurts us
Is just mostly worthless
And what if it didn't matter?
What if it didn't concern us at all?
You know we'd be better off
To focus on the good things, yeah

You could try to clip my wings
While I'm walking on a tight rope
But I know that I always will sing
I'm gonna stand my ground most definitely
As long as they're listening
You can try to take my money
But I got what I need
And it seems it's not the same way for you
And it must be heavy to carry all that misery
Try to go after another, steal a piece of their dream

Some people are miserable
And they don't wanna see you happy
They'd rather take you down with them
Cause they don't have the courage to be free
And all these verses I'm serving, each one gives me purpose
But what if I didn't have it?
What if I never had tried it at all?
It's the beat of another drum
So focus on your own thing, yeah
