She's Got Me Runnin'

I was sittin' on the front porch sippin' on a beer
Boots up on the rail, I didn't have a care
Thinkin' 'bout some shuteye or a little bit o' fishin'
Tired to the bone from a long day of workin'
Then I hear my honey's mustang roarin' down the lane
I see her red hair streamin', I know this game
Radio blasting just as high as it can, a siren call for a willing man
I raced into the house to pick up my keys
Suddenly awake and eager to be teased
Cranked up my truck and peeled out of the drive
Thinkin' that I'd catch her, and make her my wife

I caught up with that girl 'bout ten miles away
She was waitin' for me on a big pile o' hay
She made it all worthwhile like she does near ev'ry night
She's got me wrapped around her finger real tight
I asked her why she won't just drive up to my place?
But she said she never gets tired of the chase
She doesn't like to talk much, or hear about my truck
Or any of my buddies or my run of bad luck
I thought we could stroll down by the old fishin' hole
Maybe take a drive up to the makeout knoll
But she had other plans, like me spendin' my money
On dinner, drinks and dancin' with my red-haired honey

She led me by the nose down the aisle and then
Set up housekeepin', stickin' me in the den
But she won't let my buddies come over for cards
Who knew that married life could be so hard?
She asks me for my paycheck every week when I get it
Tells me me "fork it over or you can forget it"
It's honey do this and honey do that
I just want my peace and quiet back
When I'm not workin' on the house she has me fixing her car
Or takin' her dancin' at the Honky Tonk bar
Now I have to go to work just to get a little break
With no fishin' in my future how much more can I take?
