To my dear mother

I'm subjugated because I'm at home and you are the prisoner

They blame me because I'm outside and you're inside

Shame on those who do not recognize the role of women in the struggle

You were imprisoned while pregnant with me

My first cries as a child
Were a cry for freedom

Tender bones, cold bars

I am a prisoner, the son of a prisoner

The only child in a women's prison
I was born in prison while you were still suffering

As a child, your handcuffs were my toys

You breastfed me with knowledge, so I grew up aware

My greatest joy was when my first tooth came in

I never met my father but I had more than one mother
