My son
You know better than anyone where we live
In a filthy and sordid alleyway
Where misery and vice flourish

How difficult it is to ask, in such an environment, to be good and noble
How hard it is for you, my son
To demand virtues where everything is lacking

But I am your father, an ordinary man
Made like all men, of weakness
But I am full of anxiety to make you a man of worth

Behind the miserable shacks we inhabit
I see for you, my son
A wide horizon where life is noble

Where man learns to live with his fellow men, far away perhaps
In the province, where there are rivers with crystal-clear waters
And meadows full of greenery

Study, learn
More is demanded of us
But the more obstacles there are on the path
The more legitimate the victory

Be noble and be just
With the frank and simple nobility of a man who knows how to love his neighbor
And true justice, free from all duplicity and selfishness

Learn to be free
Position and wisdom are of no use
