ألعب أنا وياه
كان اسمه شادي

لعبنا على الثلج
ركضنا بالهوا
كتبنا على الأحجار قصص صغار
ولوحنا الهوا
ويوم من الأيام ولعت الدني
ناس ضد ناس علقوا بهالدني
وصار القتال يقرب على التلال
والدني دني
وعلقت على اطراف الوادي
شادي ركض يتفرج
خفت وصرت اندهله
وينك رايح يا شادي
اندهله ما يسمعني
ويبعد يبعد بالوادي
ومن يومتها ما عدت شفته
ضاع شادي
والثلج اجه وراح الثلج
عشرين مره اجه وراح الثلج
وانا صرت اكبر وشادي بعده صغير

Shadi

Since I was a little girl,
There used to be a boy who would come from the woods.
We would play together
His name was Shadi.
Shadi and I sang together,
Played in the snow.
We ran in the wind,
Wrote stories on stones,
And waved to the wind.
One day, the world was set ablaze,
People against people.
And the fighting came close to the hills,
The world was small.
I stood on the edge of the valley,
Shadi ran to watch,
I was scared and called out to him,
“Where are you going, Shadi?”
I called out, but he didn't hear me.
He walked further and further into the valley.
I haven't seen him since that day.
Shadi is gone.
The snow came and went,
Twenty times the snow came and went,
And I grew older, but Shadi remained a child.
He continued to play in the snow.
