Frank Sinatra - Angel Eyes - Live At The Golden Nugget, Las Vegas/1987 текст песни

Текст песни Angel Eyes - Live At The Golden Nugget, Las Vegas/1987 - Frank Sinatra

Comes now for the kind of song that I have been talked about
As a saloon singer
And it's true I love working saloons
Carnagie hall one a year is fine, but the saloons are better
Because they're very relaxed
And you can have a little booze between tunes, and Carnegie hall you can't do that
You get one of these from the conductor
In this particular song
They're all about a guy who's losing obviously, all the uh-b-uh, saloon songs
In this case, this is a guy who's been left behind in a little room, and by uh- his chick who's uh left town
She got a peek at a guy's wallet and they both left
And uh- he's sittin' around there for a few days and now it begins to bug him a little bit
So he decides one uh- early or late night, early morning to go an' take a walk around up the street
And he comes up to a bar, and he walks in there, he uh- he's looking for somebody to talk to
And there are the bartender and several people, an' people to talk to
And this is his tale, have a drink will ya' please Mack, thank you
Drink up all you people
Order anything you see
And have fun, all you lovely people
The drink and the laugh's on me
I try to think, that love's not around
Still it's uncomfortably near
My poor old heart it ain't gaining any ground
Because my angel eyes she ain't here
Angel eyes, that old Devil sent
They glow unbearably bright
Need I say that my love has been misspent?
It's been mispent, with angel eyes tonight
Drink up, drink up, drink up all of you people
Order anything that you see
Have fun, have lots of fun, all you wonderful people
The drink and the laugh's on me
Pardon me, but I gotta run
The fact's uncommonly clear
I gotta find who's now the number one
And why my angel eyes, she ain't here
'Scuse me while I disappear
Song was written by Matt Dennis and Tom Hebert (Sp.), oh- that's a marvelous song
Hey if you ain't been there yourself once, you don't know what a hurt is
Ask Eddie Fisher he'll tell you anytime you wanna to talk to him
I should like to introduce some special members of our orchestra
First the entire orchestra, I would like to have stand and take a well deserved round of applause
Please rise gang, get up, light 'em up (bravi, bravi)
My son said to me on the phone today
Why the hell do you work in town when I'm working here
You got the best guys, because I use them when I can but I can't get 'em when you're here
How 'bout this kid?
He's a nice boy, he works over in the four Queens over here
And he's got a, got a, bunch of good musicians over there
Generally a lot of the guys here, who when I'm not working here they go and they work over there
The marvelous piano music you hear throughout this show is by the great Lou Levy from Los Angeles, California
And of course our drummer is the finest
I've, with whom I've ever worked or ever heard in my entire life
And he keeps the whole thing tight together like that
That's why it cooks so good, the band does up here
He's Irv Cottler from Encino California
Irv get up, take a bow
And this specimen over here
Is WIlliam Miller from Burbank California
An' he's our conductor, used to be a great drunk
Take a big bow Bill
Bill Miller
I'll tell you a quick story about Bill Miller, why I say he used to be a great drunk and he doesn't anymore
He got bombed one night in the, in the Valley, in the up there in California
Which is such a terrible place to live, in the Valley
See they still got sand from when the desert was there
Kicking around like this all the time
And he was driving home at 2 o'clock from the bar, true story
And he hit a police car
But the police car was parked in front of the police station
Then he wore a sweater with a number on it for a while
And he didn't work with us for a little bit
They had to detain him just to see if he was alright
Maron, if you're gonna to hit a car don't hit a cops car for chrissake
Find some guy you don't like and whack him in the back with your car
