You said you would love me more
Than any fight that we could have
But then I watched you walk right out my door
With all your things inside a bag
Cause every day it was a different war
And we were both so sick of that
And even on those days I missed you more
I know there ain't no going back
See when I hear your name I can't help but crack a smile
Cause I know the flame that we shared for a little while
Was realer than what many even get to see
So I can't let how it ended alter what you meant to me
Eventually when all the sadness passes
And we stop wondering if maybe we had gotten past this
We can look back and just laugh at
All the times we had and just be glad that we had this
But at the moment it still hurts quite a bit
So I'm writing this here poem trying to quiet that shit
(Ya see)
My thoughts are louder than a cannon ball boom
And it's feeling kinda empty in this rather small room
All consumed in my own self pity
Staring at the moon
Driving 'round the city
Guess it was clear that I wasn't meant to be
Your heart is beautiful but it just wasn't meant for me
You said you would love me more
Than any fight that we could have
But then I watched you walk right out my door
With all your things inside a bag
Cause every day it was a different war
And we were both so sick of that
And even on those days I missed you more
I know there ain't no going back
Can't say I don't miss you
But every time we try
The blame just shift back and forth between you and I
Why are we even
Sitting here believing
That we should keep this breathing
Can't come up with one reason
Seasons change and storms eventually pass but
I really thought that this love would last
But we got lost along the wayward path
Miscalculations
Wasn't great at math
A yo whatever
I regret nothing
The headaches from the fights might have felt like a concussion but
I wish there was a rematch clause
Sometime I wish this break was merely just a momentary pause
Cause when it was good it was amazing
But now your just another X within this long equation
Guess it was clear that I wasn't meant to be
Your heart is beautiful but it just wasn't meant for me
You said you would love me more
Than any fight that we could have
But then I watched you walk right out my door
With all your things inside a bag
Cause every day it was a different war
And we were both so sick of that
And even on those days I missed you more
I know there ain't no going back
I know there ain't no going back
I know there ain't no going back
I know there ain't no going back
I know there ain't no going back
