کجا بودم کجا رفتم کجایم من نمی دانم
به تاریکی در افتادم ره روشن نمی دانم
ندارم من دراین حیرت به شرح حال خود حاجت
که او داند که من چونم اگرچه من نمی دانم
چو من گم گشته ام از خود چه جویم باز جان و تن
که گنج جان نمی بینم طلسم تن نمی دانم
چگونه دم توانم زد درین دریای بی پایان
که درد عاشقان آنجا بجز شیون نمی دانم
برون پرده گر مویی کنی اثبات شرک افتد
که من در پرده جز نامی ز مرد و زن نمی دانم
در آن خرمن که جان من در آنجا خوشه می چیند
همه عالم و مافی ها به نیم ارزن نمی دانم
از آنم سوخته خرمن که من عمری دراین صحرا
اگرچه خوشه می چینم ره خرمن نمی دانم
چو از هر دو جهان خود را نخواهم مسکنی هرگز
سزای درد این مسکین یکی مسکن نمی دانم

Where I was, where I went, where I am, I do not know
I have fallen into darkness, I do not know the bright path
I have no need in this bewilderment to explain my condition
For He knows what I am, even though I do not know
Since I am lost from myself, what am I to regain and soul and body?
For I do not see the treasure of my soul, I do not know the enchantment of my body
How can I breathe in this endless sea?
For the pain of lovers there is nothing but lamentation
If you lift the veil by a hair's breadth, it will be proof of polytheism
For behind the veil, I know nothing of men or women
In the field where my soul gathers its clusters
I do not value all the world and its contents for half a grain of millet
My field is burned, because for a lifetime in this desert
Although I gather clusters, I do not know the way to the threshing floor
Since I do not desire a dwelling for myself in either world
I do not know a cure for the pain of this poor man
