Wonders of the world were bursting from the earth
I couldn't wait on a dying star to bring its gold
Waiting out the days with time slipping away
I couldn't sit around and wait for the light while the truth unfolds

Now I see the storm
Clouds begin to form
Stirring up the sea
Turning the tide

I take a step into the pouring rain
I feel the water pressing down again
Another turn into uncharted seas
I let the scars of wisdom carry me

We head into twisting winds
The tidal surges call me in
With lessons learned from time before
Life and love, a fleeting war
Wind, carry me

Never ending storms are drifting from ashore
I can't wait on a dying star to let me roam
Reaching from the ledge and sliding to the edge
I can't rely on a sinking ship to bring me home

Drifting overboard
Now I reach the shore
Returning to my home

So many years of wandering I've finally found my way
For the first time I can finally feel the sunlight on my face
I've paid the price for living life and turning every page
I may not be the writer of this book but I can change

I started at the water's edge safe upon the shore
I'll never turn the tide around to where I was before
The ocean takes me where it will. Its secrets still unfold
I may not like the water but I can't escape its hold

Drifting out into the world along the current's wind
It's hard to find true solace when the storm is closing in
The tidal force may pound the hull and thrash along the brim
I may not be the captain of this ship but I can swim
Waves, carry me home
