Na swym wspaniałym wspólnym kopcu

Radośni są i mocni
Że wszyscy mają język jeden
By nim wyrazić jedną myśl
Tacy się widzą piękni mądrzy
Zbyt szybko chcą osiągnąć Eden
I miarą swą świat sądzić
Nie muszę nawet palcem ruszyć
By w prochy ziemi wetrzeć proch
Bo piorun rękę moją zdradzi
Człowiek zagładę nosi w duszy
Wystarczy go przerazić
Odbiorę bratu brata język
I koniec zgody Tłumiąc głos
Będę się zdradzać śledzić kumać
Na mnie polegać we mnie wierzyć
Wszak to ich los i duma
Patrz teraz Dłonie im opadły
I już nie rozumieją słów
Wieża osuwa się w mrowisko

Tower of Babel

Look down, Archangel Gabriel,
Where the crowd builds their new shrine.
Look at their unprecedented effort,
As in their superhuman masterpiece,
They wish to rival us for a while.
As they run up and down,
Cementing the heavy stones with their blood,
On their magnificent common mound,
Without any quarrel or fight.
They are joyful and strong,
That they all have the same tongue,
With which to express the same thought.
They see themselves so beautiful and wise,
They wish to reach Eden too soon,
And judge the world by their own measure.
I need not move a finger,
To rub dust into the dust of the earth.
For lightning will betray my hand.
Man carries his doom in his soul,
It is enough to frighten him.
I will take away their brother's language,
And end their harmony. Stifling their voices,
I will betray, watch, and conspire,
And make them rely on me and believe in me.
After all, it is their fate and their pride.
Look now. Their hands have fallen,
And they no longer understand words.
The tower collapses into an anthill.
Let not their ugliness disgust you.
Look again,
All is clean.
