Do you have any idea how much a woman sacrificed?
Trying to raise a kid so they can have a better life
The daddy not around, that broken family pay the price
Black women cover cost, it's so expensive exhaust
It starts to kick in like that baby did in the womb
Struggle make you question if God is in the room
And if so, why is this happening?
Just a natural reaction when
You deserve better than what has been
You lose yourself when you lose your passion
And live for others
You don't wanna resent your kids, you truly love them
You had a man that was not a man, told you to trust him
He ain't have him a father around, he was taught nothing
About the true effect of fathers or the absence of them
Sever that connection, a path of destruction
Starts to unfold you see them slowly implode Self sabotage them trauma
Cycles actualize It's a lot of black women in them
Circumstances Bearing all the burdens cause they been abandoned
Barely getting help, so they gotta manage
Learn to wear a smile just to hide the damage
Mental health suffering, some turn to substance
I heard an old man say something so disgusting
He said, they get addicted and them kids won't be nothing
Had to chill cause he was old, but I really wanted to snuff him
I'm one of them kids, still I made something of myself
And to get me this far, it took a black woman's help
How you judge a situation, you ain't been through yourself
Matter of fact, you talking about it, did you offer any help?
Did you? Then keep opinions to yourself
Cause you would sexualize, them before you ask them if they doing well
Put them on the bottom shelf, no value seen in themselves
Time to love and, protect them, to show their presence is felt
