The singer is gone
But the songs remain
They echo in the bars
When the coin drops
He relished in disapproval
And light beverages
Witnessed bewilderment
And sullen faces
He knows the sorrows of the world
And the cares of man
He tells of how it cuts
The longing of love
But his own life
He could not control
Always sticking to his guns
And the storms took his boat

The jukebox poet may be on his way to hell
But he sure knows how to write a song that fits there too
He tells of life, it can be hard
But sometimes, in its pores, joy trickles

He wished that here the sun would only shine
And that everyone on earth could feel a moment of joy
So my friend, a toast to his memory
A lukewarm beer spiced with a tear
