Rizqi-ro'z ishqida bir joni halak,
Mag'ribu-mashriqni kezar jonsarak.

Eski dardlar qalbin tirnalar qaytib,
Ayoli dardini yig'lasa aytib,
Zor yig'lab, yolg'ondan kularkan erkak. {}
Umr o'taverar bag'rini o'yib,
Musibat qiynaydi, bepichoq so'yib.
Ayolin ko'ksiga boshini qo'yib,
Goho tik oyoqda o'larkan erkak. {}

My one life is sacrificed for the sake of earning,
Wandering from west to east, even to the point of exhaustion.
A man, holding the honour of his family up,
An impregnable fortress through which stones cannot pass.
If his hope is lost from the moon and stars,
If he sees no love from his soulmate,
If God does not grant him a lawful companion,
He fades and fades away.
His heart's blood wells up into the earth,
The building crumbles, its beams cracking.
On long nights, he prays to God,
Asking for fortune for his children.
The years pass, the cranes return,
Old pains claw at his heart,
His wife confides her pain in him,
And he pretends to laugh, while crying hard.
His years pass, while his chest aches,
Calamity torments him, stabbing him without a knife.
He lays his head on his wife's chest,
Sometimes standing up suddenly.
