Tum aankhon mei Khushi ki chamak si
Tum ho kya ye tumko bhi bhanak ni

Tum waise bhi sabhi se alag si
Dekhne ko tumhe aankhein ye tarasti
Tum lekhak k khaatir ho kalam si
Tum baarish jo kheton mei barasti

Tum manzil ho jiski talaash mei
Saalon se bhatakta fire musafir
Tumhi se hasta hai mayank aur
Tumhi se hasega kaafir

Likhne ko likhdu mai nazmein hazaaron
Par ye wali tumhare khaatir
Tum khuda ke bande liye ho khuda se
Zulam kya kare khuda fir

Mai waise bhi juda hu maut se
Tumse mai kaise ho sakta juda fir
Aur jab bhi mai aage badha hu toh
Cheekh pukaar pe bhi na muda fir

Hum toote bhi aur ab adhoore bhi
Tujhe bulaate tu kabhi toh sunegi
Tumhi se honge hum poore bhi
Yaani hum honge ab poore ni

Tum sard mei jalti ek aag si
Andhere mei tum ek mashaal si
Jab puche koi baare tumhare mai kahun
Tum chidiya ki pehli udaan si

Tum jaun ki shayri
Tum nusrat-e-sahab ki ghazal ho
Panne zameen se aur mai kisaan
Aur tum meri fasal ho

Mai bharta hu panne
Par tumse mai chaaahu tum bharo udaan
Jo paya na kisi ne karu dua
Mai ke tumhe vo mile mukaam

Tum ghayal sipaahi pe marham se
Tum bhale insano ke karam se
Iss kaaton se bane samajh mei
Gale lagaane pe tum lage naram se

Tum aise samudr
Dooba jo tum mei toh dhundhu kinara ni
Ye duniya akash si
Andhere mei tum jaisa dooja sitara ni

Mai khaa chuka maat hu itni ki
Na khaa saku joothi kasam ab
Tum badh chalo kitne bhi aage
Mai aaj bhi likhta hu tumpe nazam bass

Tum jaisi bhi ho
Tum mere liye kisi khwaab se kam ni
Vo khwaaab Jo dekhna chaahe hum
Asal mei par usse paaa sake hum ni

You are like the sleep of a weary traveler
You are like the lesson of a lost gambler
You are the first steps of a tiny life
You are a scream in deaf ears

You are the light in the darkness of a cave
You are the victory after defeat
You are the sparkle of happiness in the eyes
You are what, you don't even know yourself

You are so different from everyone else
These eyes long to see you
You are like a pen for a writer
You are the rain that falls on the fields

You are the destination the traveler has been searching for
Wandering for years
You make the sky smile, and
You will make the Kaafir smile too

I can write thousands of poems
But this one is for you
You are like God to God's people
What injustice can God do then

I am already separated from death
How can I be separated from you then
And whenever I have moved forward
Even with a cry for help, I have not turned back

We are broken, and now we are incomplete
Will you ever hear our call?
We will be whole only with you
Or maybe we will never be whole

You are like a fire burning in the cold
You are like a torch in the darkness
When someone asks about you, I will say
You are like a bird's first flight

You are Nusrat-e-Sahab's ghazal
The earth is a page, and I am a farmer
And you are my crop

I fill the pages
But I wish you would fill the sky with your flight
I pray for what no one has ever found
That you reach that place

You are like a balm on a wounded soldier
You are like kindness from good people
In this understanding of thorns
You feel soft when you are embraced

You are like an ocean
If I drown in you, I will never find the shore
This world is like the sky
There is no other star like you in the darkness

I have eaten so much defeat
I can't eat a false oath anymore
You keep moving forward, no matter how far
I still write poems about you, that's all

No matter what you are
You are no less than a dream for me
The dream we want to see
But we can't actually achieve it
