વાચ કાછ મન નિર્મળ રાખે
ધન ધન જનની તેની રે

સમદૃષ્ટિ ને તૃષ્ણા ત્યાગી
પરસ્ત્રી જેને માત રે
જિહ્વા થકી અસત્ય ન બોલે
પરધન નવ ઝાલે હાથ રે
વૈષ્ણવ જન તો તેને કહિયે જે
પીડ પરાઈ જાણે રે
મોહ માયા વ્યાપે નહિ જેને
દૃઢ વૈરાગ્ય જેના મનમાં રે
રામ નામ શુ તાળી રે લાગી
સકળ તીરથ તેના તનમાં રે
વૈષ્ણવ જન તો તેને કહિયે જે
પીડ પરાઈ જાણે રે
વણ લોભી ને કપટ રહિત છે
કામ ક્રોધ નિવાર્યાં રે
ભણે નરસૈયો તેનું દર્શન કરતાં
કુળ એકોતેર તાર્યાં રે
વૈષ્ણવ જન તો તેને કહિયે જે
પીડ પરાઈ જાણે રે

Who feels the pain of others

Who feels the pain of others
Even when doing good to those who harass him
He does not become proud
I call a person Vaishnava
Who feels the pain of others
He worships everyone in the world
And does not criticize anyone
His speech, body, and mind are purified
His mother is truly fortunate
I call a person Vaishnava
Who feels the pain of others
He is equal-minded and renounces desires
He considers other women as his mothers
He never speaks untruth
And never takes what belongs to others
I call a person Vaishnava
Who feels the pain of others
He is not attached to worldly possessions
And has firm detachment in his mind
He constantly chants the name of Rama
And has all the sacred places within him
I call a person Vaishnava
Who feels the pain of others
He is free from greed and hypocrisy
And has overcome lust and anger
Narsaiya says that the sight of such a person
Redeems sixty-one generations
