Fleeting Dream

Amongst the throng of children walking past,
A blinding white handkerchief billows,

The friend to whom I confessed my love, I hear, has fallen ill,
The nameplate at the familiar house has changed,
But the scent lingers,
From this bridge, I see my reflection in the water,
And toss a small stone towards the azure sky,
The river flows, oblivious,
Leaving me stranded,
