There it is! How About That!

I don't like to travel on vacation
There's the packing and the subsequent unpacking
There's the waiting for your time to board frustration
There's a fat guy sitting next to you that's smacking

Security at airports is a hassle
And there's no room in the overhead bins
And the baggage claim conveyor belt bag 'rassel
And after all of that the real work begins

We Went to Washington DC to visit
Just the wife and I a nice romantic jaunt
Its supposed to be inspiring but is it?
I suppose it just depends on what you want

We walked through all the national museums
To be honest, it seemed like a tourist trap
In this city, the enshrinement of our freedoms
I bought a shot glass and some other worthless crap

We saw the Washington monument
And I wanted to like it
But I was tired after traveling so far

Well there it is!
How bout that!
Isn't that something?
Looks just like the picture!
Yeah there it is
How about that!
Now, where's the bar?

We plan to visit Europe on vacation
To commemorate our anniversary
Maybe Italy will be our destination
Our perhaps we'll find ourselves in gay Paris

You only live once so you thread the needle
As they say, you seize the day! Carpe diem
And buy a coffee mug from Notre Dame Cathedral
Or a T Shirt from the Roman Coliseum

We'll see the Eiffel Tower or perhaps the Sistine Chapel
Wherever you go there you are!

I can't explain it to you, it's not like I'm some sort of snobby purist
But to go and visit statues or see monuments just seems so damn Mundane
And I've always hated being treated like I'm just another stupid tourist
I'd rather get drunk with the locals like our late, great hero Anthony Bourdain

The last thing I remember I was driving
And when I woke up I was standing in a line
I couldn't tell "are we departing or arriving?"
And right above us was this blinking neon sign

It read "welcome to your final destination"
And it was hot and such an awful sulfur smell
And then it hit me: "this will be my last vacation"
I'm about to be a resident of hell

I'm looking through the gates of hell and standing right beside me
Satan puffing on a big cigar

Wir sind nach Washington DC gefahren, um zu besuchen
Nur meine Frau und ich, ein schöner romantischer Ausflug
Es sollte inspirierend sein, aber ist es das?
Ich nehme an, es kommt darauf an, was du willst

Wir sind durch alle nationalen Museen gegangen
Um ehrlich zu sein, es schien wie eine Touristenfalle
In dieser Stadt, die unsere Freiheiten verankert
Ich habe ein Schnapsglas und anderen wertlosen Mist gekauft

Wir haben das Washington Monument gesehen
Und ich wollte es mögen
Aber ich war müde nach der langen Reise

Man lebt nur einmal, also fädelt man die Nadel ein
Wie man so sagt, man ergreift den Tag! Carpe diem
Und kauft eine Kaffeetasse von der Kathedrale Notre Dame
Oder ein T-Shirt vom Kolosseum in Rom

Wir werden den Eiffelturm sehen oder vielleicht die Sixtinische Kapelle
Wo immer du hingehst, da bist du!

Ich kann es dir nicht erklären, es ist nicht so, als wäre ich eine Art snobistischer Purist
Aber Statuen zu besuchen oder Monumente zu sehen, scheint einfach so verdammt banal
Und ich habe es immer gehasst, wie ein dummer Tourist behandelt zu werden
Ich würde mich lieber mit den Einheimischen betrinken, wie unser großer, verstorbener Held Anthony Bourdain

Das Letzte, woran ich mich erinnere, ist, dass ich gefahren bin
Und als ich aufwachte, stand ich in einer Schlange
Ich konnte nicht sagen: "Fliegen wir ab oder kommen wir an?"
Und direkt über uns war dieses blinkende Neonzeichen

Es lautete: "Willkommen an Ihrem endgültigen Ziel"
Und es war heiß und so ein schrecklicher Schwefelgeruch
Und dann wurde mir klar: "Das wird mein letzter Urlaub sein"
Ich werde bald ein Bewohner der Hölle sein

Ich schaue durch die Tore der Hölle und direkt neben mir steht
Satan, der an einer dicken Zigarre pafft
