right there, open the icebox
wonder if i can eat it all

my eyes can't see through this metal door
mouth just ate an hour before
stomach can't remember what food is for
haven't listened to my belly in a year or more

Je dois rentrer à la maison, ma chérie
il y a un fauteuil chaud où le chat s'est installé
je me sens un peu mieux quand je suis de retour à la maison
j'espère que je n'ai pas perdu mes clés
je pense à la police
remplis de gelée pour la justice, s'il te plaît (aussi : remplis de café)

Je suis là, dans la cuisine, ma belle
je me demande si j'ai vraiment faim
juste là, ouvre le réfrigérateur
je me demande si je peux tout manger

Mes yeux ne peuvent pas voir à travers cette porte en métal, ma douce
ma bouche vient de manger il y a une heure
mon estomac ne se souvient plus à quoi sert la nourriture
je n'ai pas écouté mon ventre depuis un an ou plus
