Home Sweet Home

I draw the curtains, shutting the city lights,
I pull back my heart from the restless streets.
This perfect night is all my own,
In my silky nightgown, I feel safe and warm.
I slip beneath the covers, sipping mulled wine,
Shedding the day's dust, my heavy coat falls away.
I sink into the couch's embrace, finding peace,
As the tea grows cold, I brew fresh coffee.
Wandering aimlessly through my home, I indulge,
Dancing, laughing, crying as I please,
When I tire of joy, I drift into sleep,
No one else can hold me like my own home.
I leave behind the sorrows and worries,
Finding solace in the comfort of my bed and lamp.
I am free to live as I choose, as I please,
And my home has never let me down.
