Christ was born so long ago in Israel far away
but yet His teachings are alive around the world today;
His spirit lives in Africa, the cradle of mankind
And she once gave Him refuge when He was but a child.

His glory's in the sunset and His mercy's in the rain.
His power is in the thunder of a wild African storm;
His love has never failed us since the day that He was born.

The people in that holy land were modest people then;
Shepherds, workers of the field and simple fishermen.
A King was born among the beasts to a humble carpenter
