I will never understand the concept of time

When we fall and there's no one around to pick us up

Who came up with the concept of time and why is it applied today
Why does "miles per hour" determine speed if I drive away
GPS telling me I'm minutes away from the nicest place
Humanity forgive me if it seems I'm in a mindless state
Who decided what was an hour, who decided what was a minute
Who's idea was it to create this system and tell me why are we in it
Who decided what's a second or even a fraction
Who defined years of time as nothing but a faction
Imagine someone dying on New Year's Eve
And your resolution was not to grieve
Do you carry on all of next year without ever thinking to cry or scream
And everyday you're regretting now, that you swore you'd never let it out
Cause you wanna prove to yourself and others
That you don't have to make reckless sounds
When the ball drops on the next year
Do your eyelids become like a dam unstable
You made it concealing your fears
You proved to yourself that you are able
But your mental health has become the thinnest of lines
And all of this, cause you put too much faith in time
