Songtexte Before I Sleep (Commentary) - Marika Hackman
So,
"Before
I
Sleep",
um,
is-is
one
of
my
favorite
tracks
off
the
album
Um,
it
was
a
guitar
part
that
I
had
for
a
while,
it
was
the
first
time
I
played
around
with
different
tunings
Um,
so
kind
of
a
step
into
the
unknown
for
me
Um,
and
I
came
up
with
the
guitar
part
and
it
took
me
a
few
months
I
think
to
actually
end
up
with
the
melody
and
the
lyrics
Um,
I
used
inspiration,
um,
from
a
poet
called
Robert
Frost
for
some
of
the
lyrics,
um,
there's
a
stanza
in
one
of
his
poems
which
is
"The
woods
are
lovely,
dark
and
deep
But
I
have
promises
to
keep
And
miles
to
go
before
I
sleep
And
miles
to
go
before
I
sleep"
And
I
remember
I
studied
that
poem
in
school
and
um,
just
absolutely
fell
in
love
with
that
Um,
so
yeah,
I
took
that
as
inspiration,
obviously
the
title
comes
directly
out
of
that
Um,
and
you
know,
in
terms
of
production
we
just
decided
to
keep
it
pretty
stripped
back,
um,
and
let
that
guitar
part
speak
for
itself
and
the
lyrics
really
come
to
the
front
Um,
I
think
it's
important
to
leave
space
for
the
music
to
speak
for
itself
