Yesterday, December 7th, 1941
A date which will live in infamy
The United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked

He got word the 13th day of January 1942

So dressed in white he left port aboard the USS Arizona
And left his wife and his baby girl high in the hills of North Carolina

Well the days grew long and the nights grew cold
Without any word from the outside world
Every night he'd close his eyes and see Caroline
His newborn baby girl

Well after two long years aboard the deck of the USS Arizona
He went and got his papers
And was headed west to a port in Pensacola

His wife and his baby girl were waiting there to take him home
