Tough Town - Commentary

That's one I had to listen to a few times when I first heard it
Because it was just so incredible
That was "Lost Soul's Prayer" on Big Machine Radio

And we have Brantley Gilbert with us today
He is leading us through every song on his brand-new album, "Fire And Brimstone"
Which is available now, and sharing some of his perspective

And the next one we're gonna play is called "Tough Town"
And I mean to me, this seems like a straightforward
Man, woman, small town, blue-collar anthem, just celebrating the people
And I wonder was there, maybe a particular place
That you had in mind when you were writing this song?
Or was it just about the faces that you see
When you look out into your crowds every night?
What inspired "Tough Town"?

A little bit of everything
You know, it's just the lot of the town we worked for, even when we play big cities
These people are-, a lot of 'em, not most of 'em
Are travelling from small towns like mine
So of course, it's about my hometown, and there is a hardware store in town
My papa used to hang out at all the time and they have pictures on the wall
In the old Crawford W. Long Pharmacy in town
Of what the city used to look like back then, and

Back then and now, it's just a group of hardworking people
So that's all just about the blood, sweat and tears that are
The towns we grow up in, and live in, and it's kinda that in a nutshell

I have a feeling that this one is gonna go over huge live when you play it in concert
