What to paint next? Allow me to dip my tongue
Into the ink well and tell a story about when I was young
When I was a boy and everything seemed so great
Before I knew what it even was to hate
Another man for liking the presence of another man
Or due to the extra pigment of a man's skin
Those were blissful times, I thought we could all coexist
Never took the time to stop and think about how much those days would be missed
And boy are they missed, I look at my phone and see
Every single day another death of someone like me
Someone who just wanted to be accepted no matter the flaws
It always makes me question if we're salvageable at all
And yet pushing through it all, are the ones that keep me going
When I see a stranger helping another, faith in humanity growing
We may not all be ready to embrace the change
But I stand here firmly waiting to embrace the pain

It's always sad to see it pass away
But fear not, because now we have a blank tapestry
I bode my time, counting down the days
Knowing that there's a new horizon waiting for me

I look across to the furthest depths of my vision
Staring at the sun as it disappears behind the trees
Knowing that I've been blessed with a mission
Knowing that the next savior could be me
Not a Messiah, or any of that mighty mess
Just another person that helps make things a bit better
I've never really wanted to be high up, I confess
I just want to fly with my birds of a feather
So if you're like me, I'm offering my wing to you
That way I can help you to try and make it through
To gain a higher understanding, a better view
To assist you in learning something a little bit new
We can come together with the power of equality
And lay bare all our issues and negative qualities
So that we may see underneath we are all the same
And watch together as the sun chases off the rain
