John Williamson - The March For Australia Lyrics

Lyrics The March For Australia - John Williamson

In 1788, transportation began between Great Britain and New South
Wales, where men and women were dumped in a penal colony at Sydney
Cove. Our population was then mainly convicts,
Who were flogged and treated like slaves,
And Aborigines, who were fought and killed.
But our forebears learned to live in a place of extremes,
So different from anywhere in the world.
And out of this struggle is born a new race of children who in 1988
Come together to pay homage to the Great Land under the Southern Sky.
(Sung)
So fair dinkums, make a stand
Time to love an ancient land
Save the bush and save the sand
Our children will understand
And be a proud Aborigine
Come on, join the march with me
It's no time for looking back
A new world is down the track
And I'll see the colours with my eyes
All the wonders will surprise
From the oceans to the inland skies
I'll show the world our paradise
And I'll see the colours with my eyes
All the wonders will surprise
From the oceans to the inland skies
I'll show the world our paradise
