Daffodils and peonies

Rubber plants and bamboo (whew!)

Between three hundred thousand and four hundred thousand species of plants grow far and near
And we don't know every kind
There are others to find
About two thousand more are discovered every year (wow!)

Lots of plants are good to eat
Lettuce, beets, oats, wheat
Carrots, peas, squash, tomato
Cauliflower, sweet potato
Apples, pears, plums, cherries
Sugarcane and boysenberries
Collard greens, spinach, kale
Even parts of cattail (meow!)
Oh, not you, Kitty

Aloe and saguaro
Milkweed and mistletoe
Palm trees by the bay
Poison ivy, stay away!
Can you count all the plants in the world? (Not a chance!)
