He was told that
He was going to die at 33
And the one thing that I
Learned from him was to
Live your life and
Do everything that you can
And enjoy every moment of it because
Well we all knew we're gonna die someday
But he really knew he was gonna die someday
And so he did um
He had two wonderful children
And uh
I remember when he thought
He was teaching them how to swim
And he just threw them in the water
And I was like Ricky oh my god
You just threw them in the water
And he said they'll figure it out
They gonna swim, watch
Watch, just look at them
They're gonna swim and
Sure enough, they did
Um
And that was kinda his attitude towards life
Sink or swim
Do whatever you can
So he went on to work
For the government
Um
And uh I got him in the government
He worked for health, education and welfare
For most of his adult life
And he retired but that didn't stop him
From partying and living life to the fullest
Um
That was the
The one thing that I
That I really learned from
Him is to not wait
If there's something that you
Want to do out of life
You have to plan for it
And you have to go get it
Um because it's not
It's not gonna come to you
And um
Took me a long time to figure that out
But that's why um
I didn't finish college
I did try to get the money but
I knew my mom didn't have
A lot of money so
But um
I still tried but I knew

I often wondered how hard did I really try
But it was the same year that he died
My senior year
The last years of his life
Um really started to
Deteriorate um
Cause he was in and out of the hospital
For pain and blood transfusions
And then he found a doctor that
Uh started to give him pain pills
And that's probably the worst thing that
Could've happened for him
He should've just kept going in
to get his blood transfusions
Um
And so his death was
Tragic in some way
Well it was tragic actually
He um
Was arrested the policemen thought
He was a drug addict
Um
And he died in jail
And that was not good
Um
Our family was compensated by the city
Well his family was compensated
By the city
But He was 33
