Dois Ofícios

Tropa encordoada... ponta, culatra e fiador,
Sombreiro grande, poncho emalado nos tentos,
Pala de seda pra esses dias mormacentos
De pouco vento e "abatumados" de calor.

Gado, potrada e algum capão pra consumo
Andam no rumo que o destino me apontou,
Que o Patrão velho me proteja e me conserve
E o resto eu leve, como meu pai já levou!

Alma estirada, quais as tropas vida a fora,
Gastando esporas, cruzando de um lado a outro,
Cumprindo sempre o que foi dito e ajustado,
Bocal sovado de costear queixo de potro.

Eu sou tropeiro e domador com muito orgulho,
Sendo barulho, sou silêncio ao mesmo tempo
Foi nas estradas que forjei meus dois ofícios,
Meus compromissos, valor e temperamento.

Ser um tropeiro é algo mais que profissão
É uma missão, legado e conhecimento,
Ser domador é devoção e sentimento
Atado ao tento que arrocina o redomão.

Fiz das lonjuras, minha morada, "paradouro",
Pra matadouro, pra outros pagos, levo tropa
E enquanto isso... sigo fazendo cavalos
Pois educá-los é a obrigação que me toca.

Me deem licença que outra tropa me precisa
A mesma brisa, o mesmo sol, mas outro rumo,
Que estendo a lida, tenteando a sorte aporreada,
Gado, potrada e algum capão pra consumo...!

Two Trades

Tightly packed troop... sharp tip, stock, and tie rope,
A broad brimmed hat, a poncho draped over the saddles,
A silk headband for these humid, muggy days
Of little wind and "cast down" with heat.

Cattle, foals, and a couple of capons for consumption
Are headed in the direction my fate has laid out for me,
May the old Boss protect me and keep me safe
And I'll endure the rest, just as my father did!

A soul worn out, like troops on the road of life,
Wearing down spurs, crossing from one side to the other,
Always fulfilling what was said and agreed upon,
With a mouthpiece that's been broken in from guiding foals.

I'm a drover and a tamer with great pride,
Being boisterous and silent all at the same time,
It was on the roads that I forged my two trades,
My commitments, value, and temperament.

To be a drover is more than just a profession,
It's a mission, a legacy, and knowledge,
To be a tamer is devotion and sentiment,
Tied to the rope that breaks in the bronc.

I've made the distant lands my home, my "resting place",
I take the herd to market, to other lands,
And in the meantime, I continue to make horses,
Because educating them is the obligation that drives me.

Excuse me, another troop needs me,
The same breeze, the same sun, but a different course,
That I may extend my work, trying my luck once more,
Herding cattle, foals, and a couple of capons for consumption...!
