شتک زده است به خورشید، خونِ بسیاران
بر آسمان که شنیده است از زمین باران؟
دریده شد گلوی نی زنانِ عشق نواز
به نیزه ها که بریدندشان ز نی زاران
نسیم نیست، نه! بیم است، بیمِ دار شدن
که لرزه میفکند بر تن سپیداران
سراب امن و امان است این، نه امن و امان
که ره زده است فریبش به باورِ یاران
چو چاه ریخته آوار می شوم بر سر خویش
که شب رسیده و ویران ترند بيماران
برای من سخن از من مگو به دلجویی
مگیر آینه پیش ز خویش بیزاران
کجا به سنگرس دیو و سنگبارانش
در آبگینه حصاری شوند هشیاران؟
شتک زده است به خورشید، خون بسیاران.

The blood of many has spattered the sun,
Has the sky heard of rain from the earth?
The throats of the love-making flute players were slit
They were cut from the reeds by the spears
It's not the breeze, no! it's fear, fear of the gallows
That shakes the pale poplars
It is not a mirage of peace and security,
That has led to the deception of the faithful
Like a well, I collapse on myself,
For night has come, and the sick are more distressed
Don't speak to me of me in consolation
Don't hold a mirror to those who are disgusted with themselves
Where in the devil's stronghold and its stones
Will the wise be safe in a glass fortress?
