Al-Ma'arij

سَأَلَ سَائِلٌ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ
لِّلْكَافِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ دَافِعٌ
مِّنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ
تَعْرُجُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
فَاصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلا
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُ بَعِيدًا
وَنَرَاهُ قَرِيبًا
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاء كَالْمُهْلِ
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ
وَلا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍ بِبَنِيهِ
وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَأَخِيهِ
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ الَّتِي تُؤْويهِ
وَمَن فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ
كَلاَّ إِنَّهَا لَظَى
نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَى
تَدْعُو مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّى
وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَى
إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا
إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا
وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا
إِلاَّ الْمُصَلِّينَ
الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ
وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ
لِّلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ
وَالَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ
وَالَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ
إِلاَّ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
فَمَنِ ابْتَغَى وَرَاء ذَلِكَ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَانَاتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَاعُونَ
وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ قَائِمُونَ
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
أُوْلَئِكَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ
فَمَالِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ
عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ
أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ
كَلاَّ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ
فَلا أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ إِنَّا لَقَادِرُونَ
عَلَى أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى يُلاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ
يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَى نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ
خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ

The Ways of Ascent

Someone has asked about the impending punishment,
Which the disbelievers cannot avoid.
It [will come] from Allah, Lord of the Ascending Ways,
Up which the angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a Day, the measure of which is fifty thousand years.
So be patient with gracious patience.
They see it [as] far off,
But We see it [as] near.
On the Day when the sky will be like molten metal,
And the mountains will be like wool,
And no friend will ask about a friend,
They will see them [and] wish that they could ransom themselves from the torment of that Day by their children,
And their spouses and their brothers,
And their families who used to shelter them,
And everyone on Earth all together, then it could save them.
No! It [will be] a Fire,
Tearing away [at them], flaying the skin.
It will call to him who turned his back and turned away,
And hoarded and stockpiled.
Indeed, mankind was created anxious,
Fretful when evil touches him,
And withholding when good touches him.
Except for the observers of prayer --
Those who are constant in their prayers,
And those in whose wealth there is a recognized right
For the beggar and the deprived,
And those who believe in the Day of Recompense,
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord --
Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not something from which to be secure.
And those who guard their private parts,
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed --
But whoever seeks beyond that -- then those are the transgressors,
And those who are to their trusts and their covenants attentive,
And those who testify to their witnessing,
And those who guard their prayers --
Those will be in Gardens, honored.
But what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, that they hasten to you,
From the right and from the left, in groups?
Does everyone of them hope to enter Paradise before [the others]? --
No! Indeed, We have created them from what they know.
But I swear by the Lord of the easts and the wests that We are surely able
To replace them with [others] better than them, and We are not to be outstripped.
So leave them to plunge and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised --
The Day they will come forth from the graves in haste, as if they were rushing to an altar,
Their eyes humbled, humiliation covering them. That is the Day which they had been promised.
