All she ever wanted was to be a good man's wife
She was just an ordinary girl with an ordinary life
He came along with a promise of brighter days that were never meant to be
And she gave herself completely to a man who could never see

Underneath life's tarnish, she was solid gold
But he only took for granted great riches without measure
