Those who once comforted me are long gone}

Na sawaal-e-vasl na arz-e-gham na hikaayatein na shikaayatein
Tere ahd mein dil-e-zaar ke sabhi ikhtiyaar chale gaye

{Neither a call for a lover's tryst, nor a sorrowful petition
Neither unending tales, nor nagging complaints
In this your world I remain, afflicted
Those privileges my heart once held are long gone}

Yeh hameen they jin ke libaas par sar-e-raah siyaahi likhi gayi
Yehi daag they jo sajaa ke hum sar-e-bazm-e-yaar chale gaye

{There was no one at the crossroads but us
When our garments were besmirched with ink
We held up soiled habits as ornaments
And walked proudly into soirees of the beloved}

Na raha junoon-e-rukh-e-wafaa, yeh rasan yeh daar karoge kya
Jinhe jurm-e-ishq pe naaz tha, woh gunhagaar chale gaye

{There's no passion now on fealty's fair face
What use this rope, this gallows pole?
Those who once delighted in their crime of love
