Keep Going

I've been going through some things

I've been growing through some pains

The pictures that that I paint
with the words that I say
are but a glimpse or a glance
into my life from day to day

I'm a realist

But an artist in the sense
I want you to feel this

Clouds over my head
which brought wind and rain

Sunshine that came
and cleared my way

The progress I make
towards the goals I chase

Better is my aim in this one horse race

I find my place when I keep my pace

Presence of mind is my destination

The only way to be at peace
with where the journey takes us

is to accept the things that we cannot change

and to change the things we can't accept

Seen some things that I can't forget

But my focus is fixed
on what comes next

I appreciate the past
on which I reflect
on my path to the future
which I approach with intent

I can't be complacent even if I'm content

Of this I'm certain

A change will come
whether you're ready or not

Better to be prepared than in preparation

Sometimes the best way to learn
is to teach more

Be sure to remain in balance
cuz it can be a challenge
to regain your balance

And that applies to all things in life

When you're high in flight
and there's no end in sight

You've still gotta land
when the time is right

Things I've seen gave me some insight

So now I look inside
for what I can't live without

I can't quite say
that I've learned my lesson

Nonetheless
my gratitude is more than an expression

And in my appreciation
I find gratification

Life is in and of itself an affirmation

I appreciate the past
